The Fiorentina players will be feeling somewhat disenchanted with their inability to pick up any points from their away fixture against Juventus recently, that ended in a 1-0 defeat.  Their share of possession in that meeting was 56%, while racking up 11 shots along the way, 2 of which were on target, in contrast to Juventus, who had 7 shots on goal with 3 on target.  

It's reasonable to say they have enjoyed some decent goal scoring form of late, with 4 goals notched up in their last 6 matches, but while their offensive line is working, their defensive setup has shown cause for concern with 8 goals shipped and valuable points dropped.  They are showing great consistency at Stadio Artemio Franchi in finding the back of the net, having scored in 5 of their last 6 home games.  With a defensive record that shows one or more goals given away in 9 of their 11 home matches so far this season, boss Vincenzo Italiano will not be happy with his squad's capabilities at keeping a clean sheet at home.  

Results have been poor for Fiorentina recently, with 4 losses and only 1 win from their last 6 league games their current form is not going to help them move up the table.

Empoli had to make do with a share of the points in their last match, with a 2-2 draw against Spezia.  In that game they recorded 65 % of the possession, with 24 attempts on goal, 8 on target. Their opponents found the target on 3 of their 9 shots on goal.  

While they have been reasonably effective at circumventing their opponents defence, scoring 8 in their last 6 games, it's largely been tit for tat with their own defence proving to be equally ineffectual, conceding 8, and leading to valuable points being dropped.   With goals notched up in 5 of their past 6 matches, they are certainly showing some goal-scoring consistency of late.  They will need to tighten up at the back, having failed to keep a clean sheet in all but 1 of their last 6 away games.  

Empoli will take some comfort from having only lost 1 of their last 6 games, but having managed just 2 wins shows there's room for improvement.  Their away form in the early part of the season has produced an unusually high number of draws, with 5 draws in 11 away league games.  

Tommaso Baldanzi has scored 2 goals in the last 6 away games and will be looking to add more in this fixture against Fiorentina.
